Yanks

I am so jealous of the Americas/owners of Blu Ray DVDs. For a small fee they are able to purchase and own forever a 2 disc copy of Inglourious Basterds, featuring a bunch of random shit you would have to be a total geek to actually want to see. I want to see it so badly.

I was in Peterborough today and saw that the 1 disc copy does have deleted and extended scenes, which I didn't realise, so really thats a major plus. If I don't received it for Christmas I will be a new year gift for me, as well as the Smokin Aces prequel :D:D

I have finished most of my christmas shopping, only Hannah and my dad to go. I decided not to send a gift to a certain friend this year because, despite gift giving apparently being selfless, thats bullshit, and I like to be acknowledged for my gifts. I gave her a rather expensive book a few years ago and got a text in return, it was never mentioned when we met up and well. Ugh. To be fair I was carrying a major torch for her back then but whatever. I know thats not really the spirit of the season but who cares.

My CD-ROM of Uncanny X-men issues arrived today. The sheer amount of X-meny goodness blows my mind. I don't know where to begin.

Where The Wild Things Are

Inspired by my sisters recent Where The Wild Things Are related post, I thought I'd just do a little one about it.

It was a gorgeous film and it makes me want to run, roll, dive, tackle, scream, roar, swirl, howl, growl, smash and jump on big monsters to make a giant fuzzy pile. Cosy.

The advert played earlier today and I just span around in a circle with my arms above my head. It makes me feel like a little kid again, and I love that feeling.

Mythology Rambles

I thought I'd give this blog thing another go. Perhaps more visual than my Livejournal, which is mostly me just rambling about my life. This will also be rambles, but I will also add the occasional picture, because I am just that generous.

I've been reading Homers Odyssey recently and I'm really enjoying it. Its essentially my ideal book. I love, LOVE, fiction that involves mortals and humans. Mythology is fascinating, and recently I've been reading stories that involve it, rather than just legends. I suppose thats why I like Neil Gaimans work so much. American Gods told the story of Shadow meeting all these different, mostly forgotten gods and goddesses that crossed the seas to America when their worshippers moved around the globe. Sandman has a lot of religious and mythological references, as well as original creations and characters from literature, like Shakespeare's characters.

Its making me want to watch Clash of the Titans. I used to have the video tape of it but I may of gotten rid of it. Shame. They're remaking it though.. I'm sure it'll be fine but nothing stands up against Ray Harryhausens animation.

I also want to watch Disneys Hercules, even though all the Roman references (numerals etc) and the fact that Hercules is the Roman name, Heracles is the Greek name. I know its the Disney film and its got Danny DiVito as a talking satyr, but man it bugs me.

Now I'm off to look for mythology art.
